Rama Demetrius Dyushambee, DD - AKA: Inspector Out Rageous, The Cosmic Detective; Cosmic D; Jughead; E.D.; Eddie Harris; Edward Douglas Harris, Jr. (false name on birth certificate) - or whatever label. “I know that I am a figment of my imagination:-), and I know better than to take myself or anyone else too seriously.”

I was born, this time, yep, on October 25, 1943 in Petersburg, Virginia. Lived most of his adolescent years in “South B Village,” an African American village in Hopewell, Virginia and teen years in “Davisville” Project until graduation from “segregated” Carter G. Woodson High School at 17 years old, and enlistment into the US Navy in 1961 - Viet Nam Era Veteran, honorably discharged October 25, 1964 after 3 years, 3 months and 3 days.

Why or how did you choose your band name, "LISTEN To The SUN"?

The sun, just like a dog whistle, is producing sounds that humans cannot, generally, hear. We, as humans, have inherent potential to raise our consciousness, awareness and perception by using the available techniques, consistent from ancient times, to activate more of the unused 85% of our bio computer/brain to improve and enhance our individual existences, including improved hearing. For those of us who choose to pursue our maximum potential, on all levels, while trying to improve our hearing capacity to be able to hear a dog whistle and the sound that the sun is producing, we will learn to hear many other sounds happening all around us that we hadn't previously been aware of. We have the opportunity to try to listen to the Sun.

Do you play live? Where? Do you like it? Any special moments?

I AM reviving my music career after some years of inactivity, live performance wise. My most recent gig was in Düsseldorf, Germany on June 28, 2003. My main priorities at this point in time is to acquire the funding and find the right manager and booking agent for a US and international tour. When the circumstances and conditions are favorable, I love playing live. [For my main "special moments" see "Band History:" below.]

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

Most importantly, the Internet is making it possible for independent musicians to successfully promote and distribute our music without being dependent on the corporate music industry hierarchy. As long as I maintain all ownership of my music, and a few other conditions.

Would you still sign a record contract with a major label?

As long as I maintain all ownership of my music, and a few other conditions.

What’s your musical history?

My musical roots trace from the'40s and '50s Southern Black Baptist Gospel in the local church and “The Grand Ole Opry” on grandparents' home radio, to high school choir and band. Also, high school “do-wop” group with Jimmy Hayes (original and current singer with THE PERSUASIONS) - the highlight of which was a booking on a show with the original IKE and TINA TURNER band touring the “Chitlin' circuit” in their bus. And, on to music school after the Navy, followed by three years as a private high school music teacher, director of a local Boston, Massachusetts production of the Rock Opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Played the college and club circuit from New York to Maine for 3 years with the Bill Colwell Band, during which time the band backed up JOHN LEE HOOKER on his Boston area gigs in the early '70s, and shared a dressing room area with MILES DAVIS for one week.

As I said, I’m reviving my musical career, currently ‘wood shedin’, preparing and planning to gig and tour. For the last past 20 years my priority had been as a father to my - now deceased as a Homo sapien - 20 years and 3 months daughter/Indigo Child and Evolution Angel, Tanisha Rasanna Dyushambee; And, studying, learning and experiencing how “this that and the other” is related to “the other, that and this,” in preparation for “The Landing” and transition to the next millennium, paradigm, level and dimension.

Who or what are your musical influences?

Some of all of the music that is and ever has been…

Your favorite spot or city on earth?

A small beach town on the Mediterranean about an hour from Barcelona, Spain.

Especially for techno or electronica bands: what equipment do you use?

What ya got set up and working?

Anything else?

Oh yeaaah, check out http://www.YOUtopiaINstitute.org., and Jam On!.

THINKING ALLOWED, Now!!!

About gittin' the necessary stuff done, for now, and more desirable future generations!!!

Hey Y'ALL! WOW!!! - Now Is THE Time.

Good gracious to mighty people. We got something, potentially, 'deepalistic Hap-a-ning' here now. "To Dream The Impossible Dream - To Reach The Unreachable Shores." [Sung by Roberta Flack, on the CD First Take/Chapter Two - Release Date: 1/1/75; among numerous others.]

"The labels and the boundaries are artificial." Melanie Berzon Program Director KCSM 91.1 FM The Bay Areas Jazz Station

Bush returns to Texas | Video Yipee yi yaaah!!!

"The tickets are sold, rehearsals are done, the curtain pulls back to view a new act. Now this could be fun." from "The Show Has Begun"; on CD The United States of Mind by Horace Silver

A new era has *officially begun phasing in, for smooth transition at the end of 2012, and on. Facilitating, implementing, activating and supporting the plans and structure of the New Paradigm for the Age of Aquarius, closing out the Age of Pisces. *"Obama Starts Reversing Bush Policies"

My, personally direct, now Spirit Worlds goddess, Tanisha Rasanna Dyushambee/Porter - my human biological daughter from January 9, 1981 to April 9, 2001, nicknamed me 'Old Coot,' lovingly, with her intelligently exquisite sense of humor, and her sweet and elegantly charming *Self, years ago. *"The total, essential, or particular being of a person; the individual:..."

As happy and pleased as I am about having a new President who is intelligent, articulate, has a pleasant smile, is truly courageous, prefers peace to war, and happens to be the first African American President of the USA, I am even happier that I do not have to see and/or hear "The Decider" on a regular frequency, arrogantly, ignorantly and maliciously smirking, and sounding incoherent, to say the least. 'Dubya' can now go put on his war pajamas, and take his time practicing and learning to chew his pretzels, thoroughly, before trying to swallow them, so that he doesn't choke on um, again - for evermore.

Wisely, some of us will not forget the particular specific facts and details about how 'they' intentionally and criminally trashed the best intentions of the authors of the Constitution of the United States of America, initiated and perpetuated unprecedented war destruction, bankrupted the US Treasury - along with presiding over and steering the looting of this world's financial institutions, apparently, based on their beliefs, which disdained and ignored predominate scientific data and documented facts, as expressed in their rhetoric, deeds, actions and results, did not think that protection of the life sustaining environmental elements should and need be a priority over corporate money profit and control. Although I'm sure that there are many others of his mind-set just as committed to carrying on where FORMER President George Walker Bush, with his Advisors, Administrators and supporters left off.

With my having been arrested for sitting at a lunch counter, at 16 years old, in the USA, before enlisting in the US Navy, where I was as a Hospital Corpsman at Bethesda Naval Hospital when President Kennedy was assassinated and his remains where delivered to Bethesda for the "Autopsy" - experiencing and learning everything else that I have since then, and being spiritually, mentally and physically fit, healthy and balanced now, during this evolutionary Earth and Cosmos transition phase, I know and love the difference. And, most importantly for me, I AM devoted and dedicated to beneficially making the most of it ALL, for myself, as a part of the Whole, and for future generations to follow - so that the suffering and sacrifices of those who have gone before us, as well as those here now will not be in vain.

Soooo, I AM now, officially, claiming to be The Wise Old Coot - 'branging' everything I got and gittin,' I'm about to restart our YOUtopia INstitute Internet Talk Radio show on Blog Talk Radio, under the new title THE WISE OLD COOT & the REAL THANGS SHOW, from the overall perspective of ancestral coalescence, with present and future human conscious awareness, ALL things considered - talking about how this, that and the other relates to the other, that and this, at this particular point in time - from the past and on into the future...Arts, Music, Cultures, Sexuality, Spirituality, Religions, Sciences, Extraterrestrial Relatives, Politics, History, Education, YOU name it...

THINKING ALLOWED

In some brief words/lyric from The Life Of A Jazz Singer Anita O'Day "You gotta rock and roll and swing."

A most significant and timely example of ancestral coalescence is the celebration of the birth date for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday January 19th, and on January 20th, the inauguration of the first African American President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama.

"From Frederick Douglass to Barack Obama: An MLK Salute to 10 Who Paved the Way

Barack Obama was elected, but his journey was not one taken alone." [Conspicuously missing are any women.]

"Dr. King helped kick off the 1964 Berlin Jazz Festival with some brief remarks which as usual clarify, edify, and uplift:

"God has wrought many things out of oppression. He has endowed his creatures with the capacity to create-and from this capacity has flowed the sweet songs of sorrow and joy that have allowed man to cope with his environment and many different situations.

Jazz speaks for life. The Blues tell the story of life's difficulties, and if you think for a moment, you will realize that they take the hardest realities of life and put them into music, only to come out with some new hope or sense of triumph.

This is triumphant music.

Modern jazz has continued in this tradition, singing the songs of a more complicated urban existence. When life itself offers no order and meaning, the musician creates an order and meaning from the sounds of the earth which flow through his instrument...""

This year is also the 70th anniversary of BLUE NOTE RECORDS, started in 1939 by a Jewish man, Alfred Lion, who barely got out of Germany, just before Adolph Hitler locked down, and prevented any others from leaving, during his dictatorship. Alfred was joined by Max Margulis at Blue Note. Francis Wolff became involved shortly afterwards.

To break it down for us, the prolific virtuoso musician, and thinker, Wynton Marsalis recently wrote in a Commentary (between the lines below) titled "Let's treasure the old along with the new," published by CNN Politics, on January 18th, at http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/16/marsalis.inauguration/index.html:

Special to CNN
Editor's note: Grammy winner Wynton Marsalis is artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will lead "A Celebration of America" with the Rockefeller Foundation on Monday evening at the Kennedy Center featuring Angela Bassett, Dave Brubeck, and others.

Wynton Marsalis says we should use the rich heritage of our culture as a roadmap for the future.

(CNN) -- On the dawn of the most historic inauguration of our time, we nervously await "change we can believe in."

Politicians and pundits analyze every pre-presidential utterance and come to quick conclusions about what will happen under the new administration.

A "wait and see" attitude dampens our euphoria. Will we come together or will even harder times drive us apart?

In the din of expert voices on everything imaginable, what we don't hear is informed conversation on how central culture is to our national well-being. Our culture provides all the proof we need that we are together, that we have always been and, in spite of difficulties, will continue to be.

It's time for us to build a new mythology based on our many cultural triumphs instead of fixating on our never-ending missteps and conflicts.

The best of America was displayed during this election. That America is in the poetry and promise of the Constitution and the writings of Hawthorne, Twain and Hemingway, in every Negro spiritual. It sings through fiddlers' reels, in the lilting interpretations of ragtime, in the optimistic majesty of John Phillip Sousa.

That America transformed the whole world of music through the horn of Louis Armstrong and has passed it down through the sound of all jazz musicians everywhere. It is the well-woven cultural tapestry of America that will endure and see us through these and other unfortunate times.

At the root of our current national dilemmas is an accepted lack of integrity. We are assaulted on all sides by corruption of such magnitude that it's hard to fathom.

Almost everything and everyone seems to be for sale. Value is assessed solely in terms of dollars. Quality is sacrificed to commerce and truthful communication is supplanted by marketing.

The type of gamesmanship that separates races, genders and ages by "preferences" is a most cynical brand. The integrity and dedication shown by American artists throughout our history provides a most needed and unequivocal counterstatement.

On the eve of Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, let's recognize the pernicious effects of separating people by generic categories. In the fields of science and technology, we accept that one generation builds on another. But in the popular worlds of culture, there's a generation war in which "young" is considered energetic and good and "old" equals passé and tired. So inaccurate. Culture provides a stream of forever-fresh ideas. The generations need one another.

When I was a kid, I was caught up in that same confusion. I met the great Roy Eldridge when I was in high school in New Orleans. He'd been a star for more than 40 years by then, and he was ... well ... old. I had no real idea of who he was. I had a nice big Afro and he made it clear he didn't like it.

I was playing the flugelhorn that day and he wanted me to know he had been responsible for bringing that instrument to America. I couldn't have cared less about what some old man might have done in what seemed to me like slavery times.

Some years later, at a function for the Louis Armstrong house in Queens when I was 26, Roy showed me how to play with a plunger mute and then invited me to visit him at home. I remembered our first acrimonious meeting and didn't call. He passed away soon after, and his daughter reminded me, "My father wanted you to come by."

Then I realized he had needed me and I needed him. Later, someone showed me a film of Roy in a French club playing drums back in the 1930s. He lit the club up. People were all around him, loving him and his sound. His presence was electric. I thought, "This is the old man I saw New Orleans? Hmmph! I may be making stuff happen, but a lot more went on before I was born."

The most natural revolutionary requires a conservative establishment to rebel against. The most stilted tradition must have some new vivifying energy and imagination.

At this delicate time, all of us are called upon to support and participate in this new administration. The new president cannot cure all of our ills as if waving a magic wand. But if we focus on who we are as a nation and the culture that brings us together, we will face the uncertain future with supreme confidence.

Our artists, from Melville to Coltrane, have told the tale for us and for all times. Coming together is the American way. The Founding Fathers came together. We came together after the bloody Civil War. During the Civil Rights movement, we came together.

After Hurricane Katrina, the nation unified to help the citizens of New Orleans. Jazz musicians and dancers have come together on bandstands and in ballrooms for generations. And now, with the election of Barack Obama, we once again come together on a matter of national survival.

President Obama's inauguration is not a beginning, but the continuation of a glorious history that is hallmarked by the American people's desire to be one. Our Constitution demands it. And it forces us to a life much greater than the Founding Fathers could have possibly imagined. In the words of Duke Ellington, supreme master of the blues, "The people are my people." Hallelujah. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/16/marsalis.inauguration/index.html
-------------------------------------------------------

Whoever - Whatever and Wherever YOU are now is a sum total of WHEREVER and WHATEVER YOU coming from.

YOU IN on this? For those of us, globally, who are exuberantly hopeful about participating in preparations and actions required for a more desirable future, we should always BEWARE of the abundance of hate filled people. Hatred is an ignorant Hell of a state of individual conscious awareness and knowledge, and thrives on perpetuating discontent and spreading misery.

Naaaw, It Ain't TOO Late to IMPROVE, and 'THEY' Can't Stop ALL of US from gittin' it done.

Look around where YOU are, and try to DO something to make it better. In practical application of the quote from Mahatma Gandhi, ''YOUR little part may seem insignificant but, It's absolutely crucial that YOU Do It.'' IT All Adds UP

Yep, 'thangs' are moving fast - and speeding up - as we slow down and quiet our INdividual, and collective, Conscious Awareness for beneficial efficiency.

IT'S TIME TO GET WISE!
