Live recording
Very few if any bands record live anymore. in the late 70's through the early 80's many bands were much better live then the recordings simply because they didnt have time to spend three months in the studio. They would go in, track live, and then add guitars and vocals and possibly a bass track if need be and be out on tour again in a week. Those days are nearly gone.

Firstly, the bands then were about talented people. Talent isnt whats required to be a great band or artist anymore, its all about attitude. Rap has proven this point . Proving the product can be reworked in the studio to create something from nothing. Bands like Led Zeppelin and Van Halen could be in and out of a studio in days. The difference here is they were great and although the recordings werent the best, the attitude came through screaming loudly.
Promotion was first on the labels minds and the product was always second.
These days im hearing less and less live recordings. They invest in a band for 1 cd and make a video then write them off if theres no hit.
No more artist push or promo. A simple video and 100k does all that, not counting the mtv bed partners.
Freedy Al and the Bil Trenches Mold records all live and in one take. There is a magic and an artform there thats getting lost in music and its being retro-fitted by the Mold. Its not the perfection we love in a chorus that's been copied and pasted three times to save the vocalist time. Its the raw human side to it that makes us all listen.
To quote Edward " Music should move you in an emotional way! Hate it or love it thats great but the simple "hmphh whatever is your worst enemy. The no responce means you have failed."
This is where Freedy AL and the BIll Trenches Mold takes over.
NO SONGS ARE WRITTEN PRIOR TO THE STUDIO SESSIONS. The grouping of a few rhythms is arranged in 10 minutes or so and then the RECORD button is hit and the familiar " Were rolling" sound prompts a new song. Lyrics are written down on sheets to. randomly draw from and marked once used. The music is generated completely on the spot. A standing rule for Freedy is one take and thats it. Keeping the human side intact as mistakes become parts of the songs that are to be played once, while recording. It Doesnt get any more live then that.

All in all live recording isnt the best quality but the Trenches bunch have mastered their art over the years using state of the art technology with old school human approaches. This has brought them to a great sound all their own while daring to let the soul flow freely. Whatever the mood its there in one take, forever..
